Ambassador Hoagland visits Mangystau Region

U.S. Ambassador Richard Hoagland will travel to Mangystau oblast July 15-16.  His trip there will familiarize Ambassador Hoagland with the region and its business opportunities.

On July 15, Ambassador Hoagland will meet with Askar Nurgaliyev, Acting Akim of Mangistau Oblast, to discuss bilateral cooperation and answer the press’ questions.  Later that day, he will visit the Ersai Caspian Contract LLC Fabrication Yard and meet the representatives of environmental NGO, as well as USG alumni.  Next day Ambassador Hoagland will have the meeting with Vasiliy Novikov, Acting Director of the Aktau Sea Port, and tour of port facilities.  Also, he is going to visit MAEK-Kazatomprom (including BN-350 plutonium breeder reactor).
 
Richard E. Hoagland was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan on September 10, 2008.  Ambassador Hoagland previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan 2003-2006, and recently served as Charge d'Affaires to Turkmenistan July 2007-July 2008.
