Victory Day Message from U.S. Ambassador Richard E. Hoagland to the People of Kazakhstan

May 8, 2009

I would like to congratulate the people of Kazakhstan on Victory Day, 2009.  Sixty-four years ago, we worked in close partnership to defeat fascism.  Today, the peoples of Kazakhstan and the United States have forged a new strategic partnership built on cooperation in areas as diverse as non-proliferation, regional security, economic growth, and eradicating the scourges of terrorism, narcotics, and trafficking in persons.  As we all celebrate our victories of the past, we should never forget that true partnership leads to mutual success.  On this anniversary of Victory Day, to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, on behalf of the American people, I want to offer you our deepest thanks and sincere respect.  Thank you for your service.  Thank you for your sacrifice.
