Alumni Leaders League Elects a New Board

On August 15, 2009, alumni members of the Alumni Leaders League (ALL), which is a USG alumni association in Almaty open to all alumni of USG-sponsored exchange programs in Kazakhstan, met to elect a new board and to discuss ongoing and future projects.  Ainura Absemetova, a 2000 Muskie alumna, was unanimously elected as the new ALL president and replaced Geniyat Issin, who successfully completed his three-year term.  Under Geniyat’s leadership 2006-2009, ALL conducted a series of successful alumni projects and created the ALL website (http://all.region.kz/).  Other election results are as follows:  vice president, international relations – Dariga Chukmaitova; vice president, legal issues – Karlygash Bissengalieva; vice president, communications – Bates Assilbekova; vice president, networking – Geniyat Issin, and treasurer – Sergey Tsoy.

During the meeting, Ainura shared her experience from a recently completed volunteer seminar for Kazakhstani NGOs.  An important part of the project was development of the Volunteer Handbook and creation of the volunteer website: http://www.kzvolunteer.com/.

A significant accomplishment of the meeting was reforming ALL's mission, vision, and goals.  According to the new definition, "the Alumni Leaders League strives to become a prominent influential organization that will make a positive change for the people of Kazakhstan by staying motivated, active, and committed and by sharing the unique experience of participating in U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs."  More information about this meeting and ALL can be found on its website:  http://all.region.kz/.

Congratulations to ALL on the new appointments, and good luck with future projects!
