American pianist David Korevaar performed 2 concerts in Kazakhstan: on March 20 at the Presidential Center in Astana; and on March 24 at the National Conservatory in Almaty. He also taught a series of master classes to aspiring musicians at the National Academy of Music in Astana, Tattimbet Music College in Karaganda, and the Almaty Conservatory.
A concert pianist and professor of piano at the University of Colorado, Korevaar has performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe, Japan, Australia, Korea, and other countries around the world.
His performances and master classes deeply impressed not only the general public, but also students and faculty at Kazakh music conservatories and colleges who said that he was “fantastic,” that he possessed “top level skills,” and that they had not heard anything at this level for a very long time.
Korevaar introduced new works by American composers to Kazakhstani audiences. He also left music scores and CDs of American music for conservatories and music colleges to include in their libraries and in return received scores of Kazakhstani composers to take to the United States. He is considering offers for future cooperation in Astana and Almaty. After Kazakhstan, Korevaar continued his Central Asian tour in Tajikistan. View photogallery
