Statue of LibertyThe U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan is making it easier and more convenient to apply for a visa.  Beginning September 17, 2008, the 24 DHL Express courier offices across Kazakhstan will accept applications for Non-Immigrant Visas. Issued visas will be delivered directly to any address the applicant chooses, eliminating the need for a second trip to the Embassy.  The courier system also reduces the time applicants spend at the Embassy and allows us to process more applications each day -- keeping interview wait times to an absolute minimum.  In addition, applicants who need help completing the electronic visa application form and/or scheduling an interview appointment can now turn to the DHL offices for assistance.  We realize it may take some time to get used to the changes, but our goal in introducing the service is to provide our customers with the quickest and most convenient visa service possible.

Procedures
 

Once you have completed your application and scheduled an interview appointment, go to the DHL office you choose to submit your application to the Embassy.  You should submit your application to DHL even if you have completed the application and made your appointment without the assistance of DHL.  (Only applicants who submitted their application at the DHL offices can be accepted for an interview)

You should submit the following documents to DHL:

  • One copy of your appointment letter
  • Your application completed according to the instructions (including the photograph and any additional required forms)
  • Passport 
  • Visa application fee receipt

  • Optional supporting documents

  • The courier service fee   

    NOTE: You may submit, if you choose, a letter of invitation, bank reference letter, employment verification letter and/or copies of relevant birth or marriage certificates along with your application.  DHL will not accept original birth or marriage certificates. If you believe additional documents not listed here may help clarify the purpose of your travel and/or show your eligibility to receive a visa, you may bring them to the interview.

    • Fees

    The fees below include drop off at a DHL office and return delivery to any address in the same tariff zone.  Please contact DHL directly for other pricing options including mixed zone service and Saturday delivery.

    Passport Return

    DHL delivers passports with issued visas directly to any address in Kazakhstan the applicant chooses.  In most cases, applicants in Astana and Almaty will receive their passports back two business days after the visa interview.  Applicants in other areas will receive their passports within four business days of the interview.  Please contact DHL directly for more information on exact delivery times and options, including Saturday delivery.   For travelers in a hurry, express pick-up service is available at 4pm on the first business day after the visa interview at the Astana and Almaty head offices.   If you would like to use this option, you must select it at the time you submit your initial application to DHL.

    Please note that the return address cannot be changed after you submit your application.   Visa processing and return delivery times can vary due to individual circumstances. Do not make travel plans before physically receiving a visa.

    Application Assistance

    The DHL offices offer optional application and scheduling assistance services.  The fee for completing the electronic visa application form is KZT 1980 and the scheduling fee is KZT 500.
