American Corners and Alumni Partnership (ACAP) Grants Program
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan is now accepting applications for the American Corners and Alumni Partnership (ACAP) Grants Program
The purposes of this program are to provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between American Corners and Alumni, provide resources for the further professional development of alumni and their colleagues, and assist Alumni to implement and disseminate the concepts that they explored during their exchange programs.
Awards may be used for the following purposes:
- Organize seminars, workshops, training programs or conferences for alumni, their professional colleagues, American Corner and library visitors;
- Assist alumni to travel to American Corners in other cities to give presentations;
- Conduct projects that support democratic and economic reform initiatives;
- Initiate public or community service programs;
- Support alumni associations and networking events in American Corners;
- Develop and publish textbooks, brochures, pamphlets, or related reference or educational materials on topics that further USG assistance goals with the participation of American Corners;
- Conduct cultural events to mark U.S. holidays (January: President’s Day; February: Black History Month; March: Women’s History Month, Women’s Empowerment, Gender Equality; April: Jazz, Global Youth Service Day; May: Memorial Day, D-Day, 9 May; July: Independence Day; September: Labor Day; October: Halloween; November: Thanksgiving; December: Christmas, New Year), the birthdays of prominent U.S. figures, or provide information about the U.S.
Grants Program requirements:
- The project must be jointly submitted by Alumni and one or more American Corners;
- The event must take place in an American Corner;
- Resources (literature, equipment, databases, etc.) must be fully or partially provided by American Corners;
- The topic of the event must be related to the U.S. (history, economy, culture, etc.) or should be based on the experience/knowledge/expertise gained by Alumni during their U.S. program;
- American Corners and Alumni are encouraged to involve the Peace Corps and other native English speakers.
AMOUNT: $3000 for individuals and $5000 for alumni organizations.
